About the PI

I was born and raised in Ottawa. I completed my undergraduate degree in computational chemistry at Carleton University, one of the first undergraduate programs in computational chemistry. During my Ph.D., I developed techniques to use ab initio molecular dynamics to study organometallic catalysis. I completed my Ph.D. in 2009 and took up an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with Professor Benoît Roux. I joined the Department of Chemistry at Memorial as an Assistant Professor in January, 2012. Please see my CV for the full details of my professional work.

EDUCATION

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Irreversible Enzyme Inhibition

A new class of drugs inhibits their targets by forming a chemical bond with their target protein.  We develop new computational methods to model this inhibition.

2012 - Present

Memorial University of Newfoundland

Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.

Simulations for Energy and the Environment

We use computer simulations to study how pollutants partition and transfer in the environment.

Membrane Permeation

Many drugs and endogenous molecules must enter the cell by passive diffusion across the cell membrane.

2010 - 2011

University of Chicago

NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship - Roux Lab

Department of  Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

2005 - 2009

University of Ottawa
